#09 – Super Awesome Rinshan Kaihou
While watching Saki, I knew little to no Mahjong, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying every single dramatic tile drawing, flashy background, or implied yuri…’cause that’s what I was in it for in the first place! ;)
Out of all the moves in the anime, one moment stands above the rest. That is the time when Saki won during episode 19. She had a hand that is practically impossible to get. Watching her pull a Kan one after the other and finally getting that tile that gives her the hand had me at the edge of my seat grinning with WTF-ness and wondering what the hell was going on.
At the time I didn’t know about Kans [Four of a Kind] and stuff, so watching it was amazing and baffling at the same time! And the icing on the cake was when she got that final tile and declared Rinshan Kaihou [winning after declaring a Kan and drawing a new tile]. The way she said it was totally bad ass!
It was as if she was tired, I guess summoning all that flashy background and dramatically drawing tiles takes a toll on her. Her voice had a soft calm sound as she was catching her breath. I didn’t know what happened but I knew that hand was just too damn amazing!
It was pretty awesome watching that sequence go into motion. Yeah, you could probably say you saw it coming a mile away, but it was the presentation that made it really impressive in the end.
haha
im in the same position as you
i don’t know what’s going on >_<
It was like bankai, but she was so relaxed in it all. XD
