More Code Geass? WHUT?

“On December 10, the January issue of Gakken’s Animedia magazine published a quote from the Sunrise anime studio’s Code Geass unit for its New Year’s feature, “2009 Love & Beef”:

All of you have shown us much appreciation and made the DVDs as well as the CDs so popular. Really, we have been blessed with fervent fans…. Thank you very much. Like we have said before, [a major character development happened] but Geass cannot die. It just ended, but we think it would be nice if we can still do something more. In any case, when we can announce something, in the not-so-distant future…

Sunrise created and animated the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television anime series and its R2 sequel. Sunrise did not indicate the format that any hypothetical future plans might take.”

I was rather satisfied with Code Geass and it’s ending. It had a “proper” conclusion in my opinion, so I don’t know how the story of Code Geass could continue, it was Lelouch’s story after all, so I’m not completely excited about a possible OVA or new series. They may just make this to cash in on Code Geass…

Regardless though, if it were to come true, I probably would watch it. It could be about what became of the world or an ALTERNATE ENDING, who knows, but I’m curious to see where Sunrise will take Code Geass if they were to make another one…I would really like to know more about the origins of Geass though…

  1. Looks like Sunrise intends to make cash out of it like what they did with the Mai franchise ei?

I agree with you that the ending felt like it perfectly closed the curtain on the series. If they are going ahead with future plans, a back history one would be nice, similar to the Mai-Otome S.ifr OVA. C.C.’s past!! As for future events, guess they’ll have to scrape “Lelouch” from the secondary title (Unless, he’s alive, which I think quite a lot of people believe that he is).

Oh, the alternate ending is “OH SH-!!” It would totally makes sense if they did that version! LOLZ

  2. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Fumoffu-like show but with the Code Geass characters and setting. I think the series at times took itself way, way, way, way, too seriously, and I tended to enjoy the lighter / funner scenes more than the “serious” stuff.

  3. Well. Given that I want people to end up as couples CGR2 ended horribly.

For how season one ended, the second season brought a good stop to it.

But an “after the end” story? NOOOO, why do they build up everything and then have an after story? Mai Otome Zwei sucked worse than the main show ever did and then we shouldn´t talk about Sifr…

And given the thought of a “fumoffu” version then sure, would be fun to laugh my ass of to humerous scenes with them all. But at the same time how would they make more of it than it already has?

An alternate storyline would be even worse.

But oh well. When it arrives I´ll probably watch it anyway…

  5. R2 got a little TOO twisty IMO. I got so you did not know who to root for. Even the person you rooted for the previous episode may no longer be someone you can in the next.

It was still enjoyable, however not as much as first season. Here are my takes on both seasons with lots o’ pics and perhaps a little wit:

  6. I believe that an R3 is possible even with the ending of R2. Although i loved the R2 ending it was satisfying if not sad.

    Reasoning:

If people remember geass powers do evolve and his father did become immortal so that he could not die by a gun or sword or anything other than god. He was even able to fool Lelouch in believing his dead and giving the means to allow Lelouch to do the same. This Allows the ending where he dies have geass powers save him even if he does not have this knowledge before hand that he could do so. This would create an opening for a third season.

The only questions to this is it to much power to grant to Lelouch?

Who becomes the bad guy now?

Is it even possible to create another story for a new season or a new story arc altogether?

  7. Your last point is something they better consider. Many consider R2 inferior to R1. I do not know if they can break that trend. If they cannot perhaps this is a series best left alone.
