Saki – Mahjong Works Out a Sweat

I too sweat when I win.

I think I haven’t said it here on my blog, heck I haven’t even posted about Saki…>_> but I have no idea how to play Mahjong, let alone know the rules, so I thought watching the anime would be a bit un-enjoyable because I was sure there would be notes onscreen, which I refrain from reading…reading the manga is fine because the notes are on a different page, which means I can read them if I feel like knowing what the heck they’re saying. I’m fine just watching them play and spew terms that fly over my head, I don’t need to know the rules nor the terms to enjoy watching Saki.

Yeah, there is some loss of enjoyment, but that’s fine with me, I’m not really watching Saki for the mahjong in the first place, though the dramatic mahjong {whut a yakuman! Oh shi-!} [<-- Dunno what that is] is pretty damn entertaining, I’m all for the undertone yuri and the completely unintended comedy. {Ex: Saki imagining that boob’d girl as an angel thing! I lol’d ^_^} This small trivial thing keeps me coming back to Saki, and so far, I’ve had a smile on my face every time I see an episode! This is kinda like Strike Witches all over again! But instead of pantsu, it’s undertoned yuri!! ^_^

Eden of the East – The Ladies Love Johnny

Wow, this Episode was better than I thought it was going to be…seeing as the character designs look like those from Honey and Clover, I was ready for a laid back slice-of-life school life romance kinda anime, which is pretty good in my opinion. But instead I got an anime with some conspiracy, memory erasing, terrorism, secret agents [?], and public nudity! {Kinda reminded me of Doll House…though I’ve only seen one episode of it…the premise was kinda the same..though no nekkid Eliza Dushku…>_> }

Pretty interesting though, one of the better first episode this season.

Valkyria Chronicles – Last Resort to Save a Town

I saw this girl and asked myself…why the hell would they hire a fainting weak-willed girl to be a soldier/watchmen? I thought it was to give some sort of “I wanna protect this girl” kinda feeling to the viewers, but then I saw the little soldier kids and realized it was more than that. If you have to resort to recruiting kids and fainting girls into the army…it shows just how much in a crisis you are, which made Valkyria Chronicles that bit more interesting to me. I like seeing the underdog town/squad/etc. rising to the top!

At least I Am Boss Alicia {~♥} is a bit more competent…

though a bit Kana-ish…>_>

By the way, I love the art style. Those lines in the shading have this visual appeal that…um…appeal to my eyes! ^_^ Very nice!

The scenes may be a bit LULZY…talking, laughing, and introducing themselves while getting surrounded and bombed? O_o Can’t it wait until they’re safe? …but I found it entertaining, was a good first episode.

K-ON! – Last Resort to Save a Club

Yeah, when your favorite club is facing cancellation…you’ll do ANYTHING to save it!

I don’t really choose an I-must-watch-this-every-week-exactly-when-it-comes-out anime based on the first episode no matter how good that first episode might be…I usually give it three or four episodes…but there are times my biased self jumps out and chooses one! This season, it’s K-ON! Yes, my ‘biased self’ is a moe-tard and a KyoAni fanboy!

In a sentence, K-ON is about four girls with not much musical experience who try to save their Light Music Club from being abolished. That’s pretty much it…just four [cute] girls playing musical instruments and having fun, doesn’t sound really exciting, but it tickled my moe-tard fancy!

[Quickie] Anime Reviews – Winter ’09

Asu no Yoichi!

Not much to say about Asu no Yoichi!…wasn’t really a fan. It was “ok” for a generic guy-lives-with-a-lot-of-girls-whose-parents-are-conviniently-away-on-a-trip kinda anime. One of it’s appeal was the awesome seiyuu cast, but other than that, it’s love like-it-or-hate-it-at-first-episode-deal. I kept watching for the sole reason of Makino Yui, the underdog of the cast, in hopes of seeing more lovely Tusbasa Ero fighting outfit, which I got at the final episode! ^_^

Really, it was just an anime to pass time with…

Asu no Yoichi! gets TWO paradoxical lolis, outta FIVE.
